Today we went on our way to Reykjavik. The capitol of Iceland. But before arriving we came across the þingvellir national park. It's pretty special place in both geological and historical way. Geological because the Eurasia and the North America tectonic plate do meet each other here. They are getting apart from each other, so the land in between (like a valley) collapses and getting lower and lower. Historical because the country of Iceland originated here. The building of the parliament are still in this place. But it isn't in use anymore, because of the collapsing ground and the lake that is taking over the area in time. After a nice stroll in the park we went to Reykjavik. It's always checking out how a capitol works, so we just drove in to find a parking spot. And we were almost at the centre and found one, just one block away from the Hallgríms church, the biggest church of Reykjavik. And guess what, we didn't have to pay any parking fee. There were parking lots where had to be payed, but they were even closer. We did not do expect that from the capitol of Reykjavik. And we were just thinking: "Iceland isn't that expensive." All the natural highlights are free, all the parking is free and if you have a camping card, staying at campsites is also very cheap. And we were having this nice little thought until we got in the booking centre to book some activities. OMG... all the activities were sooo expensive, we almost could not believe it. And we left the booking centre very sad and disappointed and didn't book any activity. And we drove to a small village called Pórlákshöfn go make a new plan.
